Liam Judson is a musician, songwriter, producer and engineer best known for his lead role in psychedelic rock four-piece Belles Will Ring, as well as producing and engineering Cloud Control’s acclaimed debut album, Bliss Release.

He first began recording and producing music for the simple reason that his band could not afford a studio when recording their 2007 release Mood Patterns. Out of necessity Judson took it upon himself to record and produce the entire album.

From the recording of Mood Patterns, an instant love affair was born and Liam began amass an extensive collection of recording gear; from beautiful old analog spring-reverbs, to the latest gadgets in digital recording. A lover of both analog and digital production techniques, Liam uses the strengths of each to achieve the distinctive sound he is known for.

Gear aside, there is no ‘Rock Production 101’ formula for Liam – with every piece produced, engineered or mixed, he seeks to work from the heart of each individual song and push its sensual elements to the fore.

Most recently Judson engineered, mixed and produced Cloud Control’s internationally acclaimed, Australian Music Prize-winning album Bliss Release (2010). The album was recorded in the Judson family home in the Blue Mountains, and was Liam’s first commercial mix.

Since Bliss Release, he has gone on to engineer and produce Belles Will Ring’s second full-length album Crystal Theatre, which has since received much praise for its complex layers and its expansive and experimental textures.

Over the next year Judson is set to be working on string of Australian projects, including recording and producing Laura Imbruglia’s forthcoming album.
