Cloud Control came into being during the warmest winter on record. They were four folk from the Blue Mountains near Sydney, school friends, brother and sister. Inspired by the great melody makers of our time, Cloud Control embrace the alt-folk tradition with Neil Young-inspired vocals, inventive pop melodies and old-time girl/boy harmonies from an era when pop music was pure and – well – just made you smile.
Off the back of their critically acclaimed debut EP (4.5 stars, Sydney Morning Herald), they attracted radio airplay nationally, with ‘Death Cloud’ and ‘Vintage Books’ becoming firm favourites across the airwaves.
Lauded in the press, Cloud Control has drawn striking comparisons to The Go-Betweens and Belle And Sebastian and picked up a string of accolades on the way. The band was named among triple J’s ‘Next Crop Artists’, the Sydney Morning Herald’s ‘Next Big Things’, and picked up the FBi 94.5 SMAC award for Best Newcomer, not to mention scoring a support slot with Supergrass in 2008.
Having recently toured the country with Josh Pyke, Cloud Control will release its debut album in 2009. To hear why the band is fast becoming one of the best in Australia, take a listen here: www.myspace.com/cloudcontrol
“Cloud Control take smooth and familiar to a new level…every track here is a viable single. The only real decision left for them to make is: London or New York?”
Drum Media
